i am new to this. A problem I have is when i attempt to set a heading before turning on auto pilot, the aircraft tends to start a slight drift to the right. (I probably didnt say that correctly); I make adjustments to bring it level then it drifts again. this happens on diffenent planes. Can anyone help?

Do you fly with a joystick? If you do, I would try calibrating it.
Hit alt, go to 'controls', 'calibrate joystick'. Follow the instructions.

And welcome to SimV

Might be your joystick. I went through several (same one) before getting one that worked right.
But try this: Opening screen>realism>realism settings>current realism setting: Set this to "Easy", maybe that will help.
And welcome aboard. Always ask if you need help.

Just a thought but it might be wind drift.
If you take off heading west with a south wind you will be pushed to the right (north). You would notice it more in a light GA than in a jet airliner.
Then again, I could be wrong.

thanks for all the advice; i am at a very simple setting right now, so i have no wind; but i am beginning to get the hand of it. I think the drift is caused by my tinkering. thanks again.
