I downloaded proj opensky textures for the default 744 (Lufthansa and Condor). When i try and select them in FS, i get a window saying
"aircraft initialization failiure, lufthansa 747 ... etc

Is this likely to be a problem with the texture or the cfg (i did everything in the normally successful way)?  If there is a problem with the texture, it generally just shows up as un unpainted model doesnt it?

Did you overwrite the MS textures or install them as separate aircraft?

You can't overwrite textures unless the new textures specifically say "replacement for default MS textures".

If it is an FS2004 model that can cause problems, too.  Some work, some don't.

You can get this message when you start up a saved flight, and you've changed some of the parameters in the configuration files. Textures are specific to actual aircraft models, so you can't apply repaints to the default planes other than those specifically designed for them. This might be your problem.

Search for these repaints for the default 747 and you shouldn't have an issue.
