??? ??? ???
Hi fellow simmers, captjim here,

A little problem croped up the other day.  After I create a flight I do get the engine sounds, however I get no sound (voices) from the ATC.  I have checked the settings and all appeares normal.  Anyone out there have any similar problems, and if so, how did you correct it.  Any help would be appreciated,  captjim.

I've never run into that problem before.  You could try restoring FS2002/sounds/USEnglishBig.gvp from CD.

Hi captjim,

Another cause could be corrupted audio CODECs in Windows.  The solution is to uninstall and reinstall the CODECs from your original Windows CD.  These files are part of the Operating System, not a part of FS.

If you're unsure of how to do this, go to the Microsoft website and search the Knowledge Base for "Q177252". The title is "Flight Simulator: No Instructor, Pilot, or ATC Voices ..... ". Often, this problem will also affect the jet engine sounds.

Good luck. Let us know if any of this helps.

Regards,
JerryH

Good point, JerryH.

captjim didn't tell us which OS he's using but he can get into his device manager and check his codecs.

He might also want to check his DirectX installation.
