Chrome plated Airbus !

I downloaded poa330am.zip ( Opensky A330_200noVC GE ) and has no textures .  Wonder what I did wrong ?   FS2002 Pro and XP .
I also have a question ( for Saratoga if you are there ) about commercial jets in general and wonder if the vertical stabilizer problem is peculiar to Airbus or does one have to be careful with rudder deflection on nearly all large planes ????

Thanks ,

Jamie

Hi Jamie.

When you say it has no textures, it has nothing at all - wheel, flap etc? Or are some of the textures just totally reflective? I've experienced a similar thing with planes designed for FS9 that are stated to be FS2002 compatible, where parts of the texture are chrome-like when they are not supposed to be - a great example is the Antonov 224 on the DL pages here - the Russian space shuttle on the top of it was made of chrome.

Problem on that was that the textures were saved in a BMP format that FS2002 does not support. What I did was to use DXTBmp (you'd need to Google for it if you don't have it - great program!) to open the BMP files and then re-save them as DXT3 format - that fixed the problem. You might want to try that.

Hi Microlight ,

Thanks for the info .  I meant that it just all looks like it is not painted .  Control surfaces are there and functional .  The active camera wing view does show to be painted .  Anxious to get the untility you mentioned .  thanks ,

Jamie

I once had 737 textures that were completely cromed in silver, gold, and rainbow colours. Some funky aircraft I can tell you. ;D

Ha Woodlouse ,

Apparently you got me beat !!!  Mine is just pure shiny reflective aluminum .  I got the tool to change stuff , but was not very self explanatory and I usually mess up more than I fix when I tamper .  I have so many good planes that I decided to leave well enough alone .

Jamie,
Don't give up! Try this out:

- open DTXBmp
- open the BMP file in the apropriate texture folder (try it with the tail BMP - that's usually easy to locate)
- use the file menu and click 'save as'. From the drop down menu in the dialogue box, click DXT3 from the list.
- click OK.

Your texture file will now be visible in FS2002.

I'll have a look at the zip and see what happens in my '02.

:)

Just opened the zip, and the textures are in extended 32-bit format, which your graphics card might be having trouble displaying (mine's OK). Converting the files to DXT3 format would probably fix it, though.

Hi Microlight,
I think I did it right and was a slow procedure to do each one ( did two for the tail only ) , but may have the wrong version of DXT BMP - Texture Manipulator 4.00.82 .   ACE DXT1 Texture was the only DXT option listed .
