Slew mode problem

Sometimes when I get out of slew mode my plane jumps into the air and starts flying.  Sometimes it stays put where I want it.  How do I keep it from taking off?

I usually hit F1 before exiting Slew mode. This should put you at ground level. If the aircraft is below the terrain raise it before hitting F1.

AAAHHHH!!  That makes alot of sense--the plane thinks it is flying since its not touching the ground!!
