Where is Aircraft cfg?????

Postby G-EORGE » Wed Mar 09, 2005 8:03 am

How do I get into this esteemed Aircraft cfg. file???  Which of the three discs is it on?  The only options  I have for 2K2 in the Programs menu are to Run it or Uninstall it.

Any help greatly appreciated (but please bear  in mind i'm not a computer genius!)

There is an Aircraft.cfg file in the folder of each aircraft you have installed to FS2002 & all addon aircraft. It might be named Aircraft depending on how your Windows Explorer folder options are set. You can open & edit CFG files in Notepad.

PS. Please visit my Lair from the link in my sig. Read my "Windows Basics" & "Working with Windows" articles for tips on making this easier.

dont use word, use notepad. you bet a better look at how the aircraft.cfg is configured with you use notepad. because notepad supports cfg modifying capabilities.

Double-click on the Aircraft.cfg file you wish to edit. Select Notepad from the list of programs, click OK & it will open in Notepad. Alternatively right-click on the file & select Open With. This is explained in my Working with Windows article I mentioned in my earlier reply. http://www.simviation.com/lair/windows.htm Please take time to read it along with my Windows Basics article.

Please back up any file you intend editing first. To back up any file right-click on it & select Copy from the drop-down menu. Then right-click anywhere in a clear space & select Paste. You will now have a copy of the file named Copy of Whatever in the same folder as the original. If anything goes wrong you can delete the edited version & rename the back-up copy to its original file name.
