Strange Hang-Up

Hi all,
A few minutes ago (15 to be precise) I decided to play FS2k2. It started up just fine. I chose my aircraft, starting location, time and date etc. When I clicked Fly Now!, everything was fine, UNTIL it reached the part where it says "Loading AI Traffic". Here it was stuck for about 25-45 seconds. After that it loaded up just fine. When I reached the sim itself, I started out in the cockpit as usual. After a couple of seconds I noticed that the cockpit displays were showing wrong information. But that problem was overcome automatically after 5 seconds or so. Next, I decided to check my plane from the outside. As I pressed "S", it showed my plane stadning there all fine. Then the problem starts. I wanted to zoom in to see something. I pressed "+" twice. I waited for about 20 seconds for it to zoom (Normally it takes a split second). I then decied to go back to the cockpit. I went there no problem. But when I pressed "ALT" to go to FSUIPC, there came a horrible screeching sound. I turned off my speakers. Then I switched back to spot view. Again, the engine sounds were punctuated with screeching sounds. I had had enough. I restared the flight. Again, it loaded fine, but this time there was no "Loading AI Traffic" problems. When the sim itself loaded, there I was sitting in the cockpit. But again the instruments were reading weird things like 33,000 ft when I was actaully at 53 ft above sea level. This time nothing happened. My hard drive activity light was glowing like a light bulb. I decided that the sim had hanged which in the past it never has. I pressed "Control+Alt+Delete". Now it seemed that even the task manager didnt want to show up either. So, after a sad goodbye to the sim, I pressed the power button on the PC. I restarted and did a spyware scan etc etc.

Now, if people will be kind enough to tell me as to what happened, I will be most appreciated.

Thanks,
Ashar

PS: I had not installed anything new except an IL-76 Heavylift Cargo (or something). In addtion to that, I installed the default FS2k2 Cloud Set from FSSkyworld.
