Can anyone advise which values to adjust in FS Edit tuning in order to have the engine manifold pressure and RPM values reproduced on the panel instruments

I don't believe you have to adjust anything.  You just need to add the appropriate gauges to the panel to display the information.

If I read your question correctly.

Sorry I didn't make my problem quite clear.      On many occasions, particularly with downloaded aircraft, operation of the throttle/RPM controls does not produce, on the panel instruments, the values listed for the aircraft in FS Edit.       I have one aircraft which is supposed to produce max MP of 55 ins and RPM of 2700.       At Full throttle and max RPM settings, the best I can get on the panel instruments is about 33 inches and 1700 RPM.       I suspect that fiddling with the FS Edit 'Tuning' values may be the answer, but I'm not sure how.

Ok look in FSedit and see what the engine performance figures are. Make sure it's set at 2700 RPM and 55 inches MP. (it may be set around 25-2600 because some high power engines will overspeed in FS) Set all the tuning sliders to zero, engine related anywhoo. If that doesn't fix it, your MP gauges may have been designed for a certain aircraft and read in percentages. I.e. 1inchMP may be 0% and 40inchMP may be 100%, which means your 55 would not show up, but since it's a percentage it may just stick it in there, sorry that doens't make lots of sense but I dunno how to explain it sorry. basically if the first suggestion doesn't work, try backing up the panel then replacing the MP gauges.
