FS2002 Brightness

Postby Jake_70 » Thu Dec 16, 2004 10:41 am

Hi

Does anybody know of any way to make the screen brighter in FS2002 ?

I have to have my monitor brightness settings on full in order to be able to see anything, (especially anything on the ground) but most things in FS2002 still seem to be pretty dark.

There doesn't seem to be any way of doing it within the Settings menu.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks

There isn't one that I know of... What time of day are you flying at?

I've been flying at Midday with the season set to Spring as that seems just about the best.

Any ideas?

Hmmm.... No, no ideas really to be honest!  :-[ welcome to the forum BTW... hopefully we can be more helpful on other questions! lol  ;D Have you tried all the different seasons? Does it happen in any other aplications, or just FS? Becoause if it does it could be your GFX drivers.... Have you changed them at all recently?

Yeah, I've tried the other seasons but Spring seems to be the brightest (maybe it's the frost on the ground?)

I haven't changed my GFX drivers recently, I'll definately look into that !

Thanks for the replies, and thanks for the welcome - I'm new to flight sims but I've always loved the idea - dont know why I didnt invest in one a lot earlier !

Having great fun !

Will definately start checking-in regularly !

Thanks.

Sounds like the problem is with your monitor ...... What type and how old?

There should be manual brightness/colour/contrast setting somewhere on it.

What graphics card are you using, Jake?

Because for most graphic card and drivers there is an option to adjust the disply brightness in the video adapter, and not in the monitor.

Assuming you're using XP, for other Windows versions I thiink the procedure is basically the same:
Right Click on Desktop,
Click on properties,
Go to the Settings tab
Click Advanced
Now,  most often there is a tab apart from the five windows ones(General, Adapter, Monitor, Troubleshoot, Color Management) that is specific to the video adapter.

In my case, this extra tab is called Intel(R) Extreme Graphics, and it has got a small icon on it depicting an LCD monitor.  There is a button called Graphics Properties, and clicking it pops up a new dialog window with a whole bunch of new options, among them the option of controlling gamma, brightness and contrast. But this is only in my case, your display adapter probably is different. But look for any extra tabs in the "Advanced..." dialog window!

Cheers!
