Hello. I am also experiencing installation problems. I obtained FS2002 discs (3 of them) and tried to install on my computer. I am running windows XP. When it reached about 28% installation, an error message poped up saying it cannot extract files on the cd in TYPICAL.CAB files and they may be corrupted. Can any body help how to solve this problems or how I can obtain the uncorrupted files?
Thank you.

About the only thing I can tell you is to make sure the cds are clean. if you have more than 1 cd drive try a different drive. Try to un zip one of the cab files off of the cd. If you still have problems try the cds at a friends house or on a different system. Other than that I do not know what else to tell you.

Thanks for the suggestions garymbuska but I have done all those things - clean discs, try on other drives, other computers etc - and the result is the same. The cab files are corrupted and the only remedy seems to get uncorrupted ones, or crack codes to recover them. Perhaps if someone has installation cds with goods files that can be put on a site where it can be downloaded, it would help. If Clippy can remember the Microsoft site where the files can be obtained, it would be helpful. Thank you for your suggestions and advises and hope to hear from anyone else with remedial measures.
Regards.

I've seen this problem mentioned many times along with suggestions on how to fix it. Unfortunately I've not seen anyone with similar problems report back to say they fixed it & how.
Install problems & error messages seem to be quite common when installing big programs like the M$ sims. This is more likely to be caused by your system than corrupt files on the CD. It might be your CD-ROM drive or virtual memory settings or a scheduled task running in the background. Anti-virus software is notorious for this so make sure you disable it before attempting to install the sim. This is the first thing I would suggest you look at.
If that doesn't work please try the suggestions here & tell us if it helps.

press the windows key and click on run.
type in %temp% including the % signs.
delete everything in the folder.
now try installing the game
I'll try to remember the other stuff if that doesn't work

mjw-2k2, Unfortunately I am in the same boat as you and can't help. I have problems with CAB files on disc 1 and found out that most of the files in that directory are corrupted.
Like you, I will also appeal to any one who can help mail me copy of the cab files on disc 1, that is all the files that appear in a folder called TYPICAL. my email address is
isaacmohammed@hotmail.comThank you
