I just installed fs2002 on my win2k pc. Before that I was usiung it on win XP, but the performance left too much to be desired. So, after installing win2k and fs2k2, the fps went all the way up. However, the graphics are really lame. Mainly, the body of the aircraft and the airports. I have tried everything (new driver, new direct X, etc.) to no avail. Any idea what the prob is? Also, I tried using win98, the graphics were reallygood, but performance was lame. On win XP, graphics are ok, but performance sucks. Any ideas?????

From what I understand XP requires about 128MB of RAM just to run itself.  Any applications on top of this will run slowly at best with the RAM you have.

My best suggestion is to invest in some more RAM if you can afford it.  I don't think it is that expensive at the moment and getting your system up to 256 MB should give you a noticable improvement in more than just your flight sims.

For performance issues-

I run @ about 50-60 fps using 512 RAM and a P4 2.6GHz...

It's really a good idea to get more RAM- find it on sale on the web, eBay, or look for sales in those flyers you get in the Sunday paper ;)  That's where I got my RAM- I used to have 256 but bought another 256 card for like $50 and there were mail-in rebates and stuff so it ended up being like $20... ;D  Best 20 bucks I ever spent!

Also, your processor might be a little slow, what clock speed is it ???

For graphics issues-

Check into buying a graphics card- it will really help you out A LOT! :).  (All have onboard RAM which helps to boost frames, too ;))
This thread might ( ::) lol) help you out :)

Thansk for the replies, guys.

I figured out the main problem. Win2k has some issues with 3d mapping. It turns out that installing the SP1, the issues are solved.

As for the hardware.... it will have to wait  :-[  Too much medical expenses these past months... but thanks for the advise.
