Lost part of the panel

Hi everyone!
I have lost part of the panel to my planes. You know the little rectangle, which contains the inflight map, the radio stack, and the other things, - well it has gone.  :(I don't want to put my system back, as I have been installing planes. I'm not sure when this happened, but it has affected all my planes.
Thanks.
Regards,
    Ben :)

Have you used a gauge cleaner program ???
These programs are notourious for removeing CAB files because they do not recognize them as a valid gauge. Becaus of the extionsion .cab and not .gau
If you used a gauge cleaner then you will more or likely find your CAB files in the backup folder it made.
If not it is on the cd you might want to check to make sure you are not missing other CAB files  as well.

Hi again. I have just found it. Must have had my eyes shut. :-[
What do I look for now? The semicons folder is there in the gauges folder.
Thanks
Ben

Hi Ben. There are 2 types of gauge files used in FS2002. The old conventional GAU files & the new XML gauges. These are in CAB format & will look just like zipfiles. It's possible you deleted them by mistake. This was very common in the early days of FS2002.
SimIcons.CAB includes all the selection buttons for the pop-up windows used on the default panels.

You might not have Windows Explorer set to display file extensions. It will help a lot if you set the folder options so you can recognise different file formats. Read my Working with Windows article if you haven't already done so & set your Folder Options accordingly. http://www.simviation.com/lair/windows.htm

SimIcons.cab is a file, not a folder. It will look just like a zipfile.

Ben. This is what CAB files look like on my system. I'm on WinMe & yours might look a tad different.

Another common problem with FS2002 was overwriting the default gps.gau with an earlier 3rd party gauge with the same file name. You could try extracting the original gps.gau from the CD. It should be in one of the CAB files on CD-1. These can be opened with WinZip in the usual way. Don't confuse these with the XML gauges which should not be unzipped.

Hi everyone.
I am totally stuck. I know nothing about computers, and I barely can put on add ons. You need to be more simple when talking to a simpleton.
Sorry.

   Ben
