How do you install an airport?

Hi guys,
Before I even start, I ask that any instructions be written in "FS2K2 For Dummies" format.
OK, last night I downloaded several 'new' airports. Some of these are locations that did not come in FS2K2, like Area 51 and others are in FS2K2, but I'd like to use the updated new ones like a new version of Edwards AFB. Some of the install instructions I got with the D/L's (downloads) are quite intense, and hard to follow. Others say nothing more than "Install in the directory of your choice". So, I'm asking for a step-by-step tutorial on how to intall airports. Exactly what goes where. Of course, most of the D/L's also came with seperate AFCAD files. I don't have a clue as what that is.
In return for this tutorial, and after I get the new stuff in and working, I'll write a tutorial on "How To Still Run Out Of Runway Even When Using The 20,000' Long Runway At Edwards AFB".
OK, seriously, I need detailed instructions on how to install this stuff.
Thanks Guys. Take Care.

Hi Sue,
I would reccomend checking out Grumpy's lair. The link is on the SimV home page, there should be some info on there.
I could write you a tutorial on how to forget your landing gear is up on touchdown if you like...

Yup grumpys lair is the best place ....
AFCAD files add parking and gates to your airports ...and in some cases add runways that have been added to the real airports since the release of 2K2. To use the AFCAD files youll need Lee Swordy's program .... its in the must have downloads in utilities.
Hows about a tutorial on having plenty of runway but always managing to collapse landing gear?

Thanks for the plug guys. I should point out that my Scenery Clinic only covers the basics of installing & activating 3rd party scenery.
http://www.simviation.com/lair/fs2002sc.htmAny included AFCAD files will add or modify the navaids & invisible virtual scenery that is used by the AI traffic. AFCAD BGL files are not like conventional scenery & must be installed to the correct locations in FS2002. Installation details should be included in the Readme instructions with the downloads. If they're text files you will need to run them through AFCAD to update the FS2002 database.*
http://www.simviation.com/fs2002utilities_ess1.htm*PS. It's been a while since I've done this. When I have time I'll check it out properly & revise my tute accordingly.

Hey Sue, this is off the topic of this thread, but I remember a few days ago you were having problems with AI B-52s showing up, and I think I might've figured out why.
M$ apparently didn't bother fleshing out most of the military bases with anything beyond ATC and starting points at the ends of the runways.

Hi Guys,
Staying off-thread for a bit...
I've pretty much given up on adding the AI bombers. I've followed every tutorial I can find. My last attempt was to go to JFK, sit there until I found an AI flight, get the number, time, Etc., then go to the flightplan and change the plane out for a BUFF. I did all that using TTools, went back to JFK, with the time set for 5 minutes before that plane started to taxi, and guess what? NO PLANE AT ALL! So, I've given up on it. I got frustrated enough that I just wanted to shoot something down. So I tried, and I learned something. FS2K2 is ANNOYING!!!
I switched to Kirk Olsson's F-16 Viper and sat right at the end of the active runway at JFK. A nice big AI 747 came along. As soon as he started his take-off roll, I popped the brakes and hit full power. Now, here's where it starts to get VERY interesting. In FS2K2, an AI Boeing 747-400 outexcellerates an F-16 on full power. The 747 uses 1/3 LESS runway to lift off. The 747 goes into a 50 degree climb and continues to excellerate. At this point, I shoot under him at 1800 feet, hit spot view and pull a loop to come up behind him again. In the time it takes to loop, the 747 had made a 50 degree turn and is climbing thru 10k feet. 6 times I tried, and couldn't intercept a blasted 747 with an F-16!
I think I'll just go back to MS train sim.

That's why these days I potter around in vintage aircraft doing my own thing at 500ft and ignoring the ATC.

Sue,
One thing to remember is, all times listed in the AI flightplans.txt file are in zulu/gmt time. So make sure the clock in the flightsim is set to the gmt time that the AI bomber is set to take off
