Pilot Checkride

Postby Saitek » Thu Mar 18, 2004 1:24 pm

Hi!
I am finding the first checkride ridiculous on this sim. It seems impossible to complete. The instructor either refuses to say anything or kicks me out. I have never got past the second turn after take-off. Even when I think I have done it almost perfect the response is nothing.

Why is it like this?

That's disgraceful! Why haven't Microsoft given a patch to cover it? We all had to pay quite a price for the game. (I still love it though!).
And that's another question I have never ever been able to access the official site. It really annoys me. It says something like 'bad connection close'.

I agree. Fly Mplayer and get someone to examine you.

Platform/Linux
Are you running Linux? If you are then I can't help you, being on Win 98. If you are, perhaps you should post about this in the hardware forum....

No. We have 4 computers. 2 XP 1 98 and 1 95. None of them will get it to work.  Though the 95 is not on the internet.

Hi,

I have passed the first checkride (the private pilot). If you have done the steep turn and the instructor has not failed you you have done it right. After the steep turn and according to the checride's plan (listen to the instructor in the begining) you have to land following the STAR provided. Once you land do not forget to vacate the runway otherwise the instructor will just wait forever.

What an ignorant flying instuctor!!!!! Fancy testing my flying capabilities, and giving me no feedback!!!
Ok then I'll have another go at it. Did the instuctor answer you on that steep turn or is it just my sim?
Thanks

Tried it, as said. I got through it fine. Landed fine, pulled off and onto taxiway fine, but the instructor never said a word.
It would not allow me to contact the traffic controlers once I had reached the airport. I landed and there was not an aircraft to be seen. In the end I got tired of waiting and quitted it.
Nothing said that I had passed and the instructor never said I had failed. Basically I took my test alone, maybe the instructor collapsed after the second turn, as he/she never said a word after that! By the way I did it properly.

Kind regards,
   Ben
