STAR means Standard Terminal AppRoach and refers to procedures a pilot has to follow in order to bring the plane in a suitable position for final approach on a specific runway and they are followed unless ATC gives different vectors.
Now, as it concerns the panel, maybe it opens a pop up window (like a map?) to display specific STARs (if availabel somewhere). I know my explanation is too vague but it is just guessing. Have you checked the panel's documentation?
The STAR is a series of fixes/waypoints that will guide you to the selected runway. Look at them as exits on a highway if you like They are stored in the flight computer, so first select a runway, and then choose the desired STAR.
Hint: If you're able to, do this while you're in the Navigation display's "PLAN" mode, it's easier to view the route.
Ok nexus all you did was repeat the first response but it's all good lol. Anyways, yes those are STARs. Inserting them into a panel almost sounds like they would send lots of them or maybe a site with them and you just copy one (lets say STAR.bmp) and paste it in your panel folder and the panel will open it during the game. Sounds like a pain in the butt if that's how it works, but it's probably not.
It doesn't work that way. Every addon that has a flight management system needs a navdatabase which you have to download in order to get the system going (just lilke the real world) Often, the SIDs/STARs are a part of the navdata file, but for some addons you need to manually download the departure and arrival routes for each airport, now THAT is tiresome.
And yes, I like to repeat stuff, thats often the best way to learn things, duh.
