Can someone tell me what Antialiasing is and how it affects FS2002? Is there a setting in FS2002 that I can change for this?
Thanks.

Antialiasing is used to create more soft lines, so you wont have the jigsaw edge graphics. The result is a more realistic game. But there's a catch. Antialiasing requires much power from the graphics card, and frame rates will drop, unless you run the system on newest generation ATI or Nvidia cards.
You can select different AA settings, ranging from 2x to 8x, depending on video card. (where 8 is smoothest and will decrease performance the most)

Hi f,
Antialiasing (AA) reduces the 'jaggies', the stepped edges that you see on any object/line that is not exactly horizontal or vertical, smoothing the edges, greatly improves the image quality when flying.
If your graphics card supports it, it is available in the fs2k2 settings/display/hardware tab. But is better to leave in unchecked in fs2k2 and activate it in your graphics adapter's display setting, available by right clicking on the desktop, click 'properties', click the 'settings' tab, click 'advanced' button, and then the tab for your adapter. AA will greatly reduce your FPS, but if you have a high end adapter is well worth it.
Cheers,
Dave

Dave..
You said to uncheck the antialiasing box in FS2002, and go with the slider on my vid card? Is there a difference? I guess my video settings take preferance over my Game settings.
Right now I have it set at Quincunx Antialiasing (4xs) for my Nvidia GEforce 4 MX 440 (64MB) card. I can go higher, but I did notice a performance downgrade.

Hi f,
Yup, those are the settings most often recommended to get the best display quality, with the least FPS

Hey Dave..
Thanks for the help.
I was wondering if the card I have is a good one:
Nvidia GEforce 4 MX 440 (64MB).
I saw that you have a similar one.
Thanks for the help.

Guess any card is good if your happy with the results.
I barely get by in FPS, with AA on, as I prefer to keep most of my display settings near the max (except for clouds). Yours should do much better due to its improved AA techniques.
Cheers,
Dave

I have a Ati radeon 8500 graphic card, and with antialiasing parameters to max, I still have line broken.
Is it normal ?
Is there another seting, patch ,or anything else to obtain a image better quality on FS2002
Many Thanks

Hi ewok,
Know nothing of ati adapter settings, but do you have an overall (general) image quality setting of some kind.
On my Geforce (in display properties, not FS settings>display) there is an 'image quality' setting that goes from 'best performance' to---->----->-----'best quality'.
