So I was vectoring into KTPA at 170 / 2,000 at night and WOOSH!... My windshield was filled with light for an instant and then it was gone. I searched the sky for AI and there was none and ATC had not alerted me to anyone.
Ever seen anything like that? Are there falling/shooting stars in this darn thing?

If you look in the FS2002 effects folder, there are a couple effects for shooting stars. There's a few people who have claimed to see them, but i've never seen one

Yep the effects exist. In all my flying, I have seen one. A little unrealistic, I have counted several hundred in one night where I live.

Then I should feel "honored" to have witnessed one in my first 100 hours! 8)

Andrew... thanks for the info... How do I check the effects folder? Plus... I have something else to look up
A Possible UFO? :o
Could have been AI near Nellis AFB, but didn't "act" like it and I couldn't catch it in a Learjet.

Never heard of a UFO in this game, but as for the effects folder, what do you mean, "How do I check it?"
Open the "Effects" folder in the FS main folder. Look around inside.

Wow

, another one of those FS urban legends along with the the age old mystery of the magical north pole...
You should feel privileged to have seen one in your lifetime

I haven't seen one yet :-/
