Direct X v.9b

Hi fellow aviators,
I had recently installed DirectX version 9b the latest release from microsoft.
In addition, I installed the lastest drivers for my Nvidia RIVA TNT2 Model 64 Pro videi Card.
Ever since installing both these updates, FS2002 freezes then quits automatically (with no warning).
I'm assuming it has something to do with DierectX.
As this version of DirectX is un-installable, just wondering has anyone else had this problem, or should I look at something else before I reformat and re-install Direct X 9 only.........
Any suggestions would be mostly appreciated

I had problems with a previous version of DirectX and wished I'd never heard of it.
Despite advice to the contrary it was uninstallable and there are programs out there that will do it if you surf for them. I feel you are starting to get into dangerous territory though ..
I have been looking at the latest version myself but have put off installing it because of apparent problems from others like yourself...
Good luck

Hi,SV. Before you do anything drastic try reinstalling your original drivers. I had a similar problem that was the result of a driver upgrade. As for DX I haven't had a problem.
Cheers

I have recently (today!) installed DirectX 9.0b on my XP system to replace 8.1, with no problems with FS 2002. If you have ME or XP, it is wise to put a restore point before you install the update, just in case.

Hi Fella's,
Thanks for your input,
Curiosity got to me, I reformatted and re-installed XP and then again tried FS2002 to find it still became unstable.
I come to the conclusion its the installer I made to add all my extras (Aircraft, Panels, Scenery,Utilitys and Programs (289 Mb of them)).
Call me lazy, but I thought if I could run an installer for 20 mins on its own, it will save me 2-3 hours adding the extras indivually.
I've pinned it down to a conflicting .dll file that for some reason refuses to self-register. (back to the drawing board)
I apoligise for my stupidity and hope I haven't inconvenienced your time.
By the way - I'm sticking to Direct X 9 only for now!!!!
Thanks again'
