Hello, and...... well........ help :(

Hi all,

This is my first post here, so hello to everyone :)

My name is James and i live in Edinburgh, Scotland.

I just bought FS2002 Professional Edition (it was a bargain, or at least i think it was at 25quid) at the weekend and have been tinkering around with it.

I have also just ordered FS2004 and a Saitek X45 joystick from Amazon (was that a good joystick choice??)

Anyway, the only way i can control the game at the moment is with the keyboard and a Microsoft Sidewinder gamepad, the problem i have is that i adjust the aircraft trim (any aircraft) so as i have perfect level flight, but, as soon as i make a turn or adjust altitude my aircrafts trim seems to completly change leaving me heading for the ground after every manouver. Is this a problem due to my control methods?? or is this considered normal?? (hope not   :( ).

Also, another thing i have noticed is the lack of the Forth Bridge (rail) when you take off from Edinburgh airport, this is quite dissapointing as they have taken the time to include the road bridge, but not the bridge that really matters. Is this fixable?? or is it included in FS2004.

I would appreciate any help anyone can give me.

Regards to all,

James.

Hi Jamesd! Welcome to Simv!

What plane are you flying? Does it happen to all planes?

As for the scenery...you might want to do a search for add-on scenery that has what you are looking for....

;D

Hi James and welcome!
You can be satisfied with your purchases. The X-45 is a great controller set-up so you will not be disappointed.

Regadring the strange aricraft behavior you mentioned, there are some thing I'd like to point out.
The wings creates lift. The wings gives the optimal lift when they are level. You see what happens is, as soon you turn your airplane (banking), the wings lift capacity decreases and to compensate for this you need to

A: Adjust the pitch (more nose up trim is needed)
B: Increase the thrust just a little bit. The trimming will give you more lift. Lift creates more drag, hence the need of more power = Pitch change always means airspeed change!

Hi

It does happen with every plane i try, it's really getting me down, i just hope that when my joystick arrives it will solve my problems, i assume that this isn't really supposed to happen then??

In the process of searching for the appropriate scenery right now :)

Hi Nexus82

In retrospect i should have been a bit clearer with my original post, it is when i return to (or attempt to return to) level flight that the problems begin, immediately after i have completed a manouver the plane either seems to be climbing or nosediving without any reason (as far as i can tell) i try to keep the nose of the aircraft on the horizon whilst turning, and i always try to make altitude changes smoothly, but it seems to make no difference what i do, after the manouver, the plane decides where it is going to go.

Nexus82, yeah all planes, it's really annoying.

Also, just thought i'd let anyone else looking for Forth Bridge scenery (and loads of other scottish landmarks) to look here:

OK, i've spent more time trying to stop this from happening, i've really tried, honestly, so i've come to the conclusion i can't fly :(

Why do i seem to be failing on what i can only assume is one of the most basic flight principles there is??

Does anyone else here actually use the keyboard to control the game??

Do you think when i get my joystick, this problem will go away??

Sounds to me like your flying with out a joystick. A joystick will make everything so much easier for you. So sit tight and wait for your Saitek then break out the 747 and go find a bridge. ;D

Hi james & welcome to the madhouse. Woody is correct. I have no idea what's causing your problem but then, I can't imagine trying to fly an aircraft without a joystick. I've been at this for a long time but don't think I could do it with a gamepad or the keyboard. In fact, I'm sure I couldn't. All will be much easier when your X-45 arrives. This should be ideal for FS2002 but if it's anything like my old X-36 it will take a little setting up. Some members use them so don't be afraid to ask.

It seems to me you have a bargain so please don't be discouraged. You will soon be tearing around doing mad things like the rest of us. :D

Welcome, you've come to the right place for help and advice...

A joystick is a must, don't panic until you've got yours, you'll find it 100% easier to fly.

There are many shortages in scenery, I am also missing a major bridge and a small mountain in my area.  If you haven't already done so, look for Mesh Terrain add-0ns for your scenery, it makes a huge difference.

Good luck with it, you've got years of fiddling and mysteries ahead of you.

Thanks for the warm and friendly replies guys, i felt a bit worried posting, but you guys are all so friendly you've really put me at ease :)

I'm desperate for my joystick to come now, Amazon hasn't  posted it yet though  :(.

Hopefully i won't be asking too many more stupid questions.

Sorry if i take a bit long to reply to some of your posts btw, time difference between us is quite large, don't want to be seen as ignorant.

Once again, many thanks for the help :)
