software freezes and i have to reboot my computer. My
operating software is XP (home edition) with 512mb ram, 64mb graphics, 48 gb hard drive.
Can any help??

hi Macom,
My guess, the first thing to check is graphics card and drivers to to see if they are compatible with DirectX. As I recall FS2002pro installs ver. 8.1.. To check click Start->Run and type in 'dxdiag.exe', (without the quotes) and hit enter.
Run the tests and it will tell you if your graphics are capable, if not download compatible drivers for your card.
Cheers,
dave

Dave makes a very good point. My system sounds very similar to yours - 2gHz/512mB RAM/64mB graphics card/xp Home edition, but FS2002 Pro has always worked OK, even before I upgraded DirectX to version 9. So I reckon current card drivers and the latest DirectX is the way to go.
Good luck!

Hey Macom,
know how you're feeling buddy, I had to put up with the same problem for five months before I'd worked things out, in particular freezing and pc crashes. Although I'm only using Fs 2002 standard, with a five year old

We are assuming you have correct driver's for all your hardware and that your video card support's the correct version of direct X, yes?
Anyway all this was followed by a single addition from a windows update which read as follows:-
"Acer laboratories Inc. system driver released on february 05 2002."
It's only a small flle but after downloading this and rebooting, bingo!
unlikely it will work for everyone, well it sorted me out.
let us know how you get on.

Hoy,
Think we may have to start at the bottom here and work our way upwards.
Give us a rundown on your pc spec, ie: age, operating system, processor, ram, video card etc, and the exact nature of the problem and we'll take it from there.
I'm certainly a novice, and I can tell you I found my solution more through luck than judgement, so maybe if there are any other forum members who are reading this, perhaps they might like to throw in a few suggestions.
keep us informed.

My computer name: OEM Computer
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 98
Processor Intel Pentium 3 800MHz
Memory: 56MB RAM
DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0
Main Driver: sis620v.drv
Monitor: SyncMaster
Display Mode: 800 * 600 (32 bits) (optimal refresh rate)
Q: Should I set the refresh rate at optimal or 75 Hz
Q: Is True Colour 32 bits provides the best display?

Being a newbie, I can only give you limited help with your questions hoy.
Yes, 32 bit colour will give you better performance, but only if your video/graphics can support it, and it's not clear to me what you have. sis620v.drv doesn't mean a thing to me but it might to other members here.
As for refresh rates, I changed my default setting of optimal to 60 hz and this was major factor for me. Maybe, maybe not for you.
If you go to:
settings/control panel/system/device manager, and click on the + sign next to display adaptor this will give you graphics info.
Two other major points though which are apparent to me, your pc must be a few years old, 56 mb of ram is nowhere near enough to run FS, and, assuming you've made no modifications your pc will almost certainly not support direct X 9.
Perhaps other forum members can correct me on some of these points, I'm doing the best I can for you.
keep the info coming.
