I am  copying my CFS1 planes into FS2002, and they all work and the panels appear duly. However, the planes dont show up in the external views, althought they do in the preliminary view.
I have found the problem appears to be in the *.mdl files. Is there any way to solve the problem?

You could try the updated files from the CFS2 section. I have no idea if these would work in FS2002. I really don't see the point as there are so many beautiful 3rd party examples of most types posted in the FS2002 & CFS2 sections.
