No problem Mike. Just copy all the files from FS2004/aircraft to the FS2002/aircraft folder. Do the same with gauges, and possibly you might need to do sounds. DON'T replace any of the existing 2002 gauges or sounds if asked!!!

I'm not sure the FS2004 default aircraft are compatible with FS2002.  :-/

Hagar, most of them seem to work fine in 2k2 apparently. A couple of the guys have been experimenting.

Hi Mike
Just wondering - what is it you don't like in Fs2004? ???
I've had 2k2 for less than a year and am not really ready to shell out the money for 2004 (because I'm quite happy with 2k2). But every now and then I am thinking about it.

Cheers
AJ

Ozzy72, i was interested to read your comment about compatibility between 2004/2002; aircraft. I haven't as yet bought 2004 but I also like the look of some of the freeware 04 aircraft available for download. Does the same apply if I downloaded a freeware 2004 aircraft to instal in 02? I have read somewhere that they are not compatible but if the guys have been experimenting, is there a list somewhere which could help? thanks

From what I can see, there are extra commands in the aircraft.cfg file for FS2k4 that don't mean anything to FS2k2, so it ignores them. As long as all the expected sections are there in the file, it should be OK.

Also, since most of what's available as downloads for FS2k4 are updated versions of FS2k2 planes, they should be backwards compatible by default.

I emphasise SHOULD BE! Download and test, but unzip into a temporary before you put them into your aircraft directory as a precaution.

:)

I thought that FS9 aircraft were backwards compatible with FS2002 ???

Well, I tried first just copying the aircraft folder, namely the Curtiss JN-D4. It flew but niether pannel nor model showed up.

Oh, and really, the only reason I don't like FS2004 is actually because while in the process of installing scenery, my CD drivedid something odd, started making screetching noises, and so when FS24 was installed the only real "land" was just several different colored 15 mile perimeter squares. But the thing istalled properly is probably quite swell.
