Engine shutdown at startup

Postby Simviation2003 » Wed Sep 17, 2003 7:29 pm

Hi Fella's

Probably a question asked before, but can I set FS to have my engines shutdown (cold cockpit) at start up.

I would like to enter into a session having to start each engine and complete certain before/after engine start up checks.

Any advice would be most appreciated

Thanks

Simple way:
create a flight, shut everything down ("cold and dark"), than save the flight and check "make this default flight".
Any flight you create from then will have a cold and dark start.

Thanks AJ

I will try that.

But will the cold startup continue if I create a different flight/Plan??

There's an easier way, I think.

Go to FS2002\flights\other, open the fltsim.flt file with Notepad, and replace the last paragraph with this one:

[Systems]
BatterySwitch=False
AvionicsSwitch=False
StructuralDeiceSwitch=False
PropDeiceSwitch=False

Yes it will as far as I know. All the settings of your default flight will be used if you create another flight.

I once saved a flight with autopilot engaged and accidently made it my default flight. Afterwards I created another flight (I didn't select the default one) and kept crashing on take off. It turned out the AP was engaged, like in the default flight, so every time I started rolling the plane would turn to the selected heading in the AP... ;D

Hi AJ,

Sorry mate, bit of confusion.

My response was to zcottovision who suggested I modify the .FLT file in FS. It didn't work.

I have set up a defualt flight with a cold start up and yes it works.

Thanks for your advice, sorry for the confusion.
