Brakes arn't slowing me down!!!!

Hello Fellow Aviator's

I've got a Saab 2000 which seems to use more runway than my Boeing 747.
As I use this aircraft frequently, I was wondering if there is anyway of editing the settings to increase the effect of the braking system to help slow me down.
Also, the reverse thrust is almost unoticable, again, is there a way of changing these settings to make it more realistic.

Any advice, suggestions would be most appreciated.

Do you use the spoilers before and after landing? How about the flaps' position?

Hi ysteinbuch,

Thanks for your reply,
The SAAB 2000 in question is a SAAB2000 Version3 gmax edition, Reg. SE-LOG (Golden Air).
It hasn't got the spoiler function on it. (No Spoilers)
Flaps are set to full on mid final, touchdown at approx 108 kts.

I have another SAAB 2000 in Air Mashall Islands liveriers, (a totally different plane), I would fly this all the time, except it has poor lighting and flight dynamics. (the paint scheme is excellent).
I tried to copy the texture files from from one saab to the other without success.

It's a shame I can't modify 2 aircraft to make 1 very nice one.

Anyway, any help would be appreciated.

Approach and flap settings look good. There is a way of adjusting the brakes and reverse thrust, but it means editing the .air file. Here's what you can do, if you're okay with this:

- download AirEd from this site, if you have't got it already. If you have FS2002 Pro, don't use the Microsoft editor that came with it - it has more bugs than my son's ant farm.
- back up the original Saab .air file to a safe location out of the main aeroplane file (this is important - AirEd shows you the name of the .air file ineach folder as you browse, so you might edit the wrong one)
- open the Saab's .air file
- line 313 controls the reverse thrust. If you set it at minus 25, you should get the same reverse thrust as a small jet, and you can adjust this to suit your plane
- line 332 controls the availability of wheel brakes. It should read TRUE(1); click it to change if it doesn't
- line 1101 controls the primary aerodynamics; click the '+' to open the categories.
- the first section (misc.) has a braking strength line - if you adjust this to around 25000, this will again give you the braking strength of a small jet; adjust to fit.

Save the file, and see if it works. You'll still have the original file if something has accidentally gone wrong.

:)

Thanks microlight,

I've got AirEdit, so I shall use your instructions to see if this rectifies the problem.

Will let you know.

Thanks again
