i just download 8planes from www.fs2004.com and www.simviation.com......
All 8planes are Fs2004 and i installed them into my fs2002 PRO. 2needed panels and sound.cfg so i took them from fs2002 files. This will only work on FS2002 PRO coz it has the GMAX from Fs2004 and fs2002 noraml doesn't have it. Go and try it if you have fs2002 pro.....

I downloaded the America West FFX 737 (great plane!) from the FS2004 downloads page here at SimV, and it works fine in FS2002 Pro.

:)

I would be willing to bet that it's because the most planes out there are simply FS2002 planes upgraded for 2004.  They may say 2004 on them, but that doesn't mean they were made exclusively for it. :)

My thinking on that was, that although they had a basis in FS2002  any necessary changes made to them to make them compatible with FS2004 may have made them unusable in FS2002.

Or you may end up with perhaps no VC in FS2002 whereas there was one in the '04 version,no gauges or perhaps textures.

So I'm proceeding carefully at this stage especially with the recent episode with the Blackburn Beverly.

Cheers :)

Good question!  I was wondering about that too. :)

The Beverly was a heavylift freighter used by the RAF in the early 60s.

It is available as three zip files but caused damage to systems when loaded, with RollerBall suffering near terminal damage to his system. Hence the cry of anguish when he read those two words.

Seek it out if you must but be warned!!

I for one have deleted it without even attempting to install it.

I shall never use those two words again lest I be responsible for someones mental ill health :-X

Pippin is right. The later FS2002 aircraft, created with  Gmax & FSDS2, work fine in FS2004, including clickable DVC gauges on those that have one. As no FS2004 SDK or gamepack has yet  been released it stands to reason that most. if not all, FS2004 aircraft are actually designed to FS2002 standards. It's possible the textures & FD have been tweaked to make them more suitable. I can think of no other difference.

i think why they created the fs2004 pages is for the repaints of fs2004 default aircraft plus any new releases since fs2004 that will still work in fs2002

I just D/L'd a 2004 aircraft, installed it and worked fine. Of course after the D/L and opening it up to have a look it gave it useable in just about anything.

Hopefully, if these things eventually aren't compatible, the author will let us know in the D/L page description as they have done in the past.

Anyway there doesn't seem to be a problem. :)
