Are you talking about the default aircraft? Did you turn the panel lights on before you shifted to Virtual?
I've tried a few just now and they work fine :)

NO.  The panel light on the default planes that come with the FS2002 work fine in the virtual cockpit.  I'm talking mainly about planes i download from the web.  Seems people forget to add a light source for the intrument panel in the the VIRTUAL cockpit and it becomes pitch dark in there at night without it.

let me know

Check in the aircraft.cfg file if under [LIGHTS ] a line like this has been added;

light.x = 4,  xx.xx,   0.00,  x.xx, fx_vclight ,

If not add it where x is the number e.g. if the preceeding line is light.6 make this one light.7, and then play around with the x co-ordinates to get it right.
