Engine reluctant to re-start after being shut down

FS 2002...
(I have a funny feeling that this has been mentioned before...maybe a bug in the program)..?

Whenever I park-up, shut the engine down for a while on my GA plane, insert some scenery with FSSE, or pop off to make a cup of tea, or spend half an hour in the loo reading my latest copy of "Bike"* magazine, whenever I try to re-start the engine, (mixture full on), with either the starter switch or using Ctrl + E...nuffin... :'(...!
The same plane has to be "re-loaded" from the "Aircraft" Menu to get it to work again.. ::)...!
Nothing too serious, just a bit annoying... ;)...!
Does anyone know if there has been a "fix" for this...?

I've had the same problem, my fix is to do instant replay for say 10 seconds.  When it finishes jump back in the cockpit and it should restart.

turn off all electrical stuff so the battery doesn't get empty

Yeah,flat battery! But I think there was a fix mentioned some weeks ago where you can extend battery time but you'll still end up with no power if it sits too long.

This has happened to me in flight when I have accidentally shut of the fuel on one engine. I've restarted but eventually lost all electrics and had to turn around and land with no instruments.

Not sure if this is the fix you're looking for:
In FSUIPC (in the "modules"section) , select technical. Check "extend batery life". If set to zero battery life is extended to infinite.
Very handy when flying gliders (which are not very good at charging batteries), but also when on the platform with engines stopped but radio's etc on.

After using FSUIPC for years, and running the program automatically in the background, I have never thought of delving deeper into it's functions...silly me...!

...with this particular problem, it's useful for programs where the Main and Battery/Generator switches are not included in the Panel Folder... ;)...!

If you dont cheat and use FSUIPC or whatever, lol, the best way is to turn everything off, however, if you need the battery for something (lights at night?) and leave it on, turn EVERYTHING you dont need off, Avionics is a drainer for the battery, autopilot is worse, but not much use on the ground, lol, and cranking the engine on the ground without results (i.e. forgetting to turn the fuel to a tank :P) will drain the whole battery before you know it. If you cant get the engine to start, make sure your amp gauge is in the green or white, if it aint, let it sit or get a new airplane. ;)

Shame on you Fozzer! Don't forget Ducati! The bike might be Italian, but your own countryman has one more championships on it ......Foggy would be dissapointed!  :-/

Oval pistons? What about direct-actuating valvetrain, underseat exhaust, and the most beautiful bike to roll on the face of the planet! Not to mention more WSB championships in the last ten years, than all of the Jap manufacturers combined.  :)

still....V-four rules 8). Even Ducati have come to realize that. So I'll stick to my beautyful gear-driven cams and the best exhaust note in the world (except mayby for a highly tuned Merlin).
Staying with the subject (engines reluctant to start ): Is there a cheat-mode on your Ducati? (lol)

Yes, it's technical term is: a buttload of cash!  :o
I used to be a Ducati mechanic, before I started flying airplanes. And I used to hate Ducati's until I started working on them(nothing but Jap until that time). As a mechanic, I could appreciate the Mechanical Artwork that the Ducati is. I still love Jap bikes, but they have too much fake carbon fiber and plastic panels covering  "chunky" engineering. My last bike was a 03' GSXR750. The downside to the Duc. is $$$$$$$$$$!!!!! $2,500 for a Termignoni exhaust system!!!
I think they must be using the money to  replace all of the crack they must be smoking!!!!! >:( >:( >:( >:(

As far as engine layout: the only V4 that Ducati produces, is the GP bike, and isn't the Honda GP bike a V5?
Anyway, had just been looking for good excuse to give Fozzer
a hard time, with that picture of him perched on the Honda beckoning to me! Fozzer-Foggy, sorry, couldn't help myself! ;)

"Cool", I say... ;D...!
"Now listen to mine!, I say, as I fire-up my little 180 degree twin with its "race", ("sorry Occifier"), exhaust system... ;)....!
"Wow!", he says, "I didn't know they sounded as good as that.... :o... :o... :o...!

...I love "twins"..... ;D...!
...and "in-line fours" aren't too bad.. ::)....LOL...!

...If only Lycomings started up that easily... :'(...!

I'm a V4 man myself, nearly all my bikes have been (Yamahas and Hondas), I did have a Yamaha single trailie for a while, which was fun off road, but a nightmare on the road as the engine vibes would rattle your fillings free!
Has anyone tried any of the Triumph triples? I'd like to know what they're like, the new 955 looks delicious.
Oh and Fozzer, try bringing up the panel for the engine controls, most aircraft I've added need to go through a proper flicking the switches start-up ;)
