Nav map question from a new/old guy...

Okay, guys, I need some help here.  I'm new to FS2002, but I played the original FS back in the day.  I'm old school, yo.. 8)

Anyways, I've been trying to find the navigational maps with VOR frequencies and such.  I know that there are no print copies distributed with the game, but please tell me that there are maps in PDF format or something on the disks and that I just haven't found them yet.  Please.  ???

I really, really really am hoping that I don't have to buy maps for this game.  Having a large portion of the game be unavailable unless I spend another $20-$30 or so would not do my mood one bit of good.

Thanks for helping a new guy out.

Well purchasing maps of areas, aka Sectional Charts, would be very expensive, however, if you just want Approach and Departure charts, similar to the ones included in 2000, you can get them from...umm...let me look. http://naco.faa.gov/ (if they arent easy to find, go to Airnav.com and search your airport, go to bottom of screen, and use the link to go straight to chart. Hope this helps. ;)

Don't know if this is of any use to you:
if you go to the world-menu, click map view. You can move around the map and click on any item you want (airports, VOR, NDB). It will show names, frequencies, runways etc.
Not as good as a real map but at least you can get the info.

Cheers

Sounds good, PH_AJH; can I zoom this map out a good ways to get a good view of the larger area?

It's too bad MS didn't see fit to include PDF copies of the maps in the game.  I guess then they couldn't have sold the ad space to Jeppesen, huh?  ::)

Hi
Yes you can zoom. Just un-check the display of NDB's and VOR's because otherwise view gets very messy.
Just try and you'll see.
By the way: it took me some time to figure out how to move the map. You might be a bit more clever then me but anyway: move the mouse towards the edge of the map untill it shows an arrow-shape, then leftclick and the map will move.

I like VFR-flying so I really miss the maps. This hobby is expensive enough as it is though so I'll just do it the way I told you.
Just as well there are so much beautiful freeware add-ons available to make it all bearable...

Good luck
AJ
