DIY Rudder Pedals

I've done it!

Using an old Logitech Wingman and this as the basic design:

I have built some rudder pedals.  They are a little flimsy and need some adjustment but they do work rather well.  For those of you that use a twist stick or auto rudder I can totally recommend pedals, it is quite a differant feel and makes even taxiing fun.

Improvements to the above design pending:

1. Wooden footplates with rubber covers over the Hinges to give a stronger pedal/foot surface and better grip.

2. Bicycle brake cables for less stretch and more positive control.  In addition "sleeved" cables will suffer from less friction.

I will post some shots of the monstrosity when I get my digital camera working properly.

I got the hinges from a DIY shop and I've added some strengthening.  I need to sort out the transmission from the pedals to the stick and add some springs.

The bad thing about rudder pedals is that I'm having to re-learn everything, the difference is amazing.

PS thanks for your comments, and if you've ever heard the phrase "Heath-Robinson" it  applies well to my pedals LOL.
