With the thousands of airports to choose from, one can't get to them all. Was wondering what you think the most challenging runway is in FS'02, or what your favorite is?

There is one in a volcano, a mig-15 with
25% fuel load will clear the rim by 30 feet!!
There is a list a couple of months back!
Some are real fun!!!

PS; SESM is the airport

The most challenging task is to land any aircraft on any carrier, without arrcab.

I tried to land a B-52 on a carrier. Failed miserably. There are some very dodgy runways in the Himalayas. They are very high up with cliffs (or mountains) at both ends and tend to be grass, so you can't see them until it's almost too late.

Yeah,I was and I didn't try it 'cos I still need 10 years practice

My last post with regard to difficult strips was getting in AND out of SESM(was it?)

Ric Barkers effort was top for me on that occasion.
Apart from all that I'm in Wellington NZ NZWN at the moment and true to myself I'll keep flying until I'm within reach of a carrier and then have a go.
I've got Rick Sasala's collection of carrier borne A/C's to play with so it's on when it's within reach---actually I'll have to check the position of the NZ carrier!
Other than that I've just done a circuit with a spitfire---back to flight school!! And I have a SeaFire there somewhere.??
Cheers

You might try to land on the grass runway in the flight "Into the himalayas', although it is originally designed for the chopper. The runway is in a precarious position with mountains to its 3 out of 4 sides.
Landing on the carrier is possible with the cessna 172SP w/o arrcab. Just have to be real slow. In order to achieve that, full flaps have to be deployed in order to bring down the stall speed. Just be 5 KIAS above the stall speed and cut the throttle about 50 feet before the carrier deck. Its possible, trust me.

One of the Polynesian Seaplane scenery add ons here adds a little strip on top of a rcok on one of the islands - looks like not much more than a hang glider runway. Definately a real challenge.

Nothing can beat SESM in my books. Had to fly at 700 feet a minute round the side of the volcano for a good5 minutes before I was high enough to climb out of it. :D

Give em' a try...

Landing (or takeoff, for that matter) a boeing in SESM is pretty challenging, without using slew mode. I wonder if there actually is an airport like that or MS has included it for challenging purpose. 8)

my favorite yet most-challenging runway i've ever tried is Santos Dumont (SBRJ) Rio de janeiro, Brazil.
The runway is 3000 (-/+) long, and it is the shortest runway a 737 can land on (even in reality). The hardest part is that how you stay within glide to land on 2R, with big obstacle, a mountain nearby the airport. Try it, no ILS! In reality, actually there is a cable car cable at the mountain (forgot the mountain's name, but there is a jesus christ statue there).
With some aids using aproach chart. i made my first approach but failed, then I go-around, second approach, i did it quite well. But almost overshoot the end of the runway (almost sleep with the fishes :o ). I landed B737, autobrake: max, spoilers deployed, thrust reverser deployed. ;D
