Engine Control, please assist!

Postby paulo3d » Mon Aug 04, 2003 8:58 am

Hello to all!

I'm new to this forum, I play the FS series since FS98, and one thing I was never able to do was to start the engines myself!

Is that possible? I look through the key assignments but did not found anyone related to engines on/off, although I did find the ctrl+E to start the auto-engine start.

So my question is how I configure FS2002 to start my flight with the engines shutdown, and how do I assign keys to shutdown engines?

Thank you all for the help!

Keep on flying!
:)

I'm not sure that its possible, because if it is, I don't know.  lol

Seriously though, there's a thread on this topic back a bit.  Check it out, the answer might already be waiting for you. ;)
Great edit, Bob.

To start with the engines off, simply open your fs2002\flights\other folder and open the fltsim.flt in notepad. Then replace this section:

[Systems]
BatterySwitch=True
AvionicsSwitch=True
StructuralDeiceSwitch=False
PropDeiceSwitch=False

..with...

[Systems]
BatterySwitch=False
AvionicsSwitch=False
StructuralDeiceSwitch=False
PropDeiceSwitch=False

And it should work fine!

Starting the engines up is a bit more difficult, and varies from plane to plane. With the default 737, you have to open the throttle quadrant, hit the start levers underneath the thrust levers, and then use the ignition switches on the top part of the overhead panel.

On the default Cessna, it's just a matter of opening up a bit of throttle and putting the mixture and prop all the way in before turning the ignition key.

That's not something you should advertise on such an adult-content-heavy internet.  lol
