QUESTION!!! QUESTION!!! REGUARDING FUEL FLOW

I am my Boeing Business Jet (BBJ) (Boeing 737-700) to Las Vegas from Ft. Lauderdale Executive.  My problem is that this jet is rated to fly 6000nm.  The fuel scaler is set to 1.0 whatever that means.  Can I change that or something to make it so it actually will fly the 6000nm or somewhere near it without going over?
*I do not have the Pro Edition.
*Aircraft is made by Freeware Flight Group.
*Is there a way to make all of my aircraft fly the distances they arequoted to fly in real life?

Thanks,

MIKE

Hi Mike, you can adjust the scalar to regulate the fuel flow, but remember the distance they give is an optimum, and frequently not achieved due to other factors such as headwinds, temperature etc (engines run more efficiently in the cold) etc.

I too got annoyed with the fuel thing,so sat down with the calculator and using fuel capacity and range  come up with a fuel flow figure. Then I fly the thing at 75% of max altitude with 90% throttle and see what fuel flow figure comes up. Using a comparison between the calculated and the actual fuel flow you can get a rough idea how much to reduce(or in some cases increase) the fuel scalar. Keep fine tuning until you're satisfied with the result!

It is one area that really irks me and I MUST do something with it before it sends me round the twist ::)

Ozzy is right...

Before being able to determine if the problem is in the scalar, we'd need to know every last detail about the aircraft and the flight.

Altitude, windspeed, wind direction, airspeed, throttle position....EVERYTHING affects your range. ;D

Ozzy is right and I use neutral weather conditions when setting up the fuel system.

After that you can work out if you're going to make it or not!! :)

What if I change the scaler to .5 or .9  Would that do anything?

It certainly will at .5. Try .8 for starters and see how go :)

Mike, try get a MAX fuel consumption of 2580pph. Start by going to .8 on the scalar and see what you get when you fly. That figure is for max speed 340 kias but use it as a base to work from for the scalar. Good luck :)

The fuel gain scalar increases the fuel flow rate by that factor. The default SFC is 0.5/h  I think.

You will get performance data from:

Aircraft Performance Data

for further help ask the experts at:

8)the more info the better! Just a thought though that this is just a sim and what is true of aircraft real performance may not totally apply in FS.
I've applied data supplied in FS in this case.
My own favourite aircraft I've applied real world data to FS and juggled the bits and pieces to get a reasonable result and that with only one Aircraft file. I can't use the same settings on another file of the same aircraft by another author for the same result.
Regardless of that it's nice to have access to those aircraft specs. and thank you IanK for that :)
