Default MD-83 in FS2002?

I have FS2002 Pro.  When I scan through the Civil Jet download section, I see some textures that say they replace the default MD-83 in FS2002.  Yet there is no default MD-83.

Where is this, or am I interpreting it wrong?  Thanks for any insight.   ::)

The MD-83 is a default AI aircraft, meaning it is used by the AI only.  You can make it a flyable aircraft, but I forget how.  Ozzy? ;D

There are programs to make it so, but I don't know where.  Try using the search engines on simv and other sites.  A good search would be "flyable AI aircraft".

The simple way is to goto aircraft
editor and make a copy!
and move the 737 panel into the
folder!!
Some hard core Simers don't like
copys but I have had good luck
with them!!!

There is a file called AirEd available somewhere here. Open the directory
c:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\FS2002\md83\md_83.air
There is a section in there that says aircraft type=2
Change this to zero.
There are 2 other AI planes which ar unlocked in the same way except substitute
md83\md_83.air
for
dh_dash8_100\dh_dash8_100.air for a De Havilland dash 8
or
pa28_180\Piper_pa28_180.air for a Piper Cherokee

I went through all this a couple of months ago.  If none of the above works send me an email and I'll send you the files.

Thank you, all!  I'll give the MD-83 a try, to see if I can fly it, and let you know the results.   :)

:)  OK...............I did it the way AKA:X did it, using the copied files.  I got the 737 panel in there, and I can fly it now!!  Thanks to all that helped!
