Hey, when i do IFR flights and i am about to land, they put me on the right heading but im parallel to the runway  not on it. This especially sucks when ur in bad weather and u cant see the runway from far away to line up manually. Is there a way to line up automatically (helps in bad weather and night). Please Help

Thanks in advance

If your not on course for the runway then get lined up. ATC will tell you to steer a heading that takes you across the face of the runway and instruct you to turn on final AT YOUR DESCRETION, when your ISL panel indicates you are on line. If you want to be picky, you should read the "Published Approach" report for the airfield you are landing at.  This will tell you at what Height and direction you should be at and how to do a missed approach should the need arise.
ATC are not God nor do they fly the aircraft, they there to guide you.  8)

Happy landings
