Okay, Microsoft, where is it?

Postby Travis » Sat Jul 19, 2003 10:15 pm

I've been looking for the statue of Jesus in Rio de Janeiro, but for the life of me can't find it. ???  Does it exist in FS2002, or is it misplaced?  What is the deal?  If anyone knows the coords I would really appreciate it.

I don't think it's modelled into FS2002

M$ missed it out!!! There is a payware Rio package now which adds loads of stuff around the city.
Mind you they also left the textures off the Leaning Tower, forgot to put Stonehenge in (even though the program looks for it! Doh ::))
Its just another one of those if it isn't on the West Coast of America why should we give a monkeys mistakes.
Let us hope they've seen all the moans and groans about missing monuments and fixed them in ACOF.
Oh and M$ the Millenium Dome is IN THE WRONG PART OF LONDON!!!!!!!
I would here and now like to thank all the scenery designers who have fixed all the missing or incorrectly placed landmarks. You are wonderful people :-*

Surely the fact that you can do something about it is one of the attractions of the M$ sims. I know it is for me.  ::)

In reading a review of CoF, the author (whose name I'm at a loss for right now...sorry!) brought up a good point.

We've still got issues with 2K2!  Maybe when M$ addresses those (LMAO) then we'll be ready to upgrade to a new version.   ;)
Great edit, Bob.

When I bought M$FS2K2 at Wally World I wasn't looking for it to be 100% accurate.
When I opened the box I found FS2K2Pro disks inside the box! Yayyyy for me. :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
I took my Garmin GPS outside and got the coordinates for my house in East Texas.
I loaded FS2K2Pro and slewed to my coordinates, and guess what? My house wasn't there. So sad.
But I did find out that there are 6 honest to goodnes airstrips within 6 miles of my house. I only knew of one operated by Raytheon.
Not every point of interest is programmed into the sim but the ones that are around my neck of the woods are very accurate location wise.

I don't think anything religious has been modeled in as I can't seem to find the grotto in Lourdes either.
The also don't have the London Eye

Well, my view on it is that the world is a big place, so there are bound to be some errors.

Exactly my point...LOCAL points of interest aren't going to be on there, for obvious reasons.

However, I live in New York, and even I know the statue they're talking about.  It's nearly as well-known as the Eiffel Tower.  Something of that scale should have definitely been included.

However, since it wasn't, maybe someone with an aptitude for scenery design (ie, not ME) might be able to hook these guys up!

I could take a shot at it after I'm done with the scenery I'm working on now, but I don't know how it will turn out.  I've never modeled a statue before.

There are lots of little things wrong. Being from San Francisco, I notice that the city is the flattest thing I have ever seen, with many smaller hills missing, coit tower is on telegraph hill not on flat land, and as for religious markings, there is a large cross on top of Mt. Davidson and it is missing in this sim. -- and in Wash. DC, the capitol building is supposed to have a statue atop the dome (it is in fs2k) so let's hope they don't COF up another loser with "fs9."
