Hi all

I know we'll probably fly years on end and never get to see everything. But where do you feel the best sights are to be seen.

If you have been following my Misadventures you know that I have explored much of the world, so far the U.S. has some of the best default scenery I have found, Las Vegas is very close to the real thing.
But there are great places as far as landscape goes all over the world, New Zealand and The Himalayas come to mind, Hawaii was very cool also.

I am currently in the Middle East, and will be in Europe soon, I expect to find some nice areas in Europe and will probably spend significant time there exploring and visiting all the major cities.

I spend a lot of time in Europe, but I've been spotted fairly regularly in Australia and New Zealand, both coasts of the US, Alaska and Canada.
I rarely fly in Africa or Asia however. Must do something about that.

Well you all know where I spend all my time, so I won't repeat it... ;)...!
I fly there 'cos it's not flat...
I hate flat...
..ups and downs, hills and valleys I like...
Flat, I dont like.
My living room floor is flat and I hate it...
I look outside at my garden, and that's flat...
Norfolk is flat...
Holland is flat...
I don't want to got to Norfolk or Holland...
Flying in England with FS 2002 is flat, and that's even worse...
Most of the "Screen Shots" show "flat"
So I get into my little Cessna 152, take off from XXX, fly around YYY, and land at ZZZ....
...now work that out... ;)...!
LOL...LOL...LOL...!

Cheers all... ;D...!
Paul.
(England)....very flat...according to Uncle Bill... :'(...!

Hi Phil...!
To add to the excitement have you tried installing the land class scenery for the Rockies and Alaska...
------------------------------------------------------------------------
FS2000 30m Terrain Mesh for the continental USA, including Alaska.
Converted & compiled by Stephen Rothlisberger
------------------------------------------------------------------------
I think you will find it in Simviation under Scenery... ;)...!

I've installed it for my favourite areas on the western seaboard of California and it's amazing...!
It doesn't affect the frame rates in any way... ;)...!

Cheers mate... ;D...!
Paul.
(England).

P.S.  try a few float planes out while you are there... ;)...!

Just like Fozzer, everyone knows where I like to fly. Don't know what I'll do when I finish the KT scenery as I've become very emotionally attached.

But more than that, because I've got copies of the real charts some of which I included in the IGS system upload, I love to do the instrument procedures.

Here's an example for an instrument circuit and landing onto Rwy 13.

Set Nav1 to 111.9 (IGS system), Nav2 to 112.3 (CH - Cheung Chau VOR) and ADF to 268 (SL - Sha Lo Wan NDB). Aim to fly at something like 230 kts with 1 or 2 notches of flap in say the CX paint of the Meljet 777.

Take off from 13, at 1000 ft start a climbing turn onto 270 deg to intercept 270 to CH (watch your Nav2/ADF readout to confirm). Climb to 4500 ft.

Fly o/head CH and at 7 miles DME from CH your ADF needle is at 90 deg (ie pointing to the right). Tha's waypoint Golf. Commence a turn onto 45 deg.

Intercept the IGS localiser and cut the speed back to around 200 kts with another notch of flap. When established on the glideslope cut the speed back to 180 kts, gear down with full flap.

At the OM (outer marker) cut the autothrottle and take control by hand. At the MM (middle marker) which coincides with the Chequerboard, cut the autopilot for a visual approach to Rwy 13, turning right 47 deg over the stadium for a perfect(!) landing.

A pure test of skill to string it all together properly, especially if you set low weather minima and a nice gusty crosswind with a bit of turbulence.

The whole thing takes about 20/25 minutes from takeoff to touchdown but for me there's nothing else like it in FS.

Hi Roller...
Can't I just take my little Cessna 152 there, contact ATC for clearance to land, ignore all the auto-pilot, ILS settings, Outer markers, Middle markers, Inner markers, etc, malarky and just pop down onto the runway...?
...'cos that's what I do everywhere else... ;D...!
I love VFR flying, little grass air strips, and annoying Air Traffic Control... 8)...!
...or am I a danger in the skies... :'(...!
LOL...LOL...LOL...!

Cheers mate... ;D...!

Foz, course you can mate. But that's the beauty of FS - there's something for everyone.

When the time comes, though, make sure you ask ATC for West Parking. That's what I've had to call the Aviation Club - and make sure that first time you ask for progressive taxi otherwise you'll probably get lost being an old, bold pilot(!!) and that could be a bit dodgy at one of the busiest airports (was) in the world.

When you get there according to Mark 'Dark Moment' Beaumont, I understand you will be very welcome in the bar. Apparently in real life he spent a lot of his mis-spent youth there.....

Roger

BTW

Check out Mark's brilliant DC3 repaints - they are worth flying anywhere the quality is so great

I try to get around the world as much as I can.  Right now I exploring the Hawaiian islands.  I wanted to fly over the volcano on Maui but my plane wouldn't go that high!  Only 10,000 MSL!  I've explored all of 'em except the big one.  I think its called  Hawaii?   ???
