Other things (Part 1)

Postby Eyelevel » Mon Jul 21, 2003 7:41 am

Hi All,

Right I've just done my first short (very short!!!) flight from London Stanstead to Southend, and although my flying/navigating technique is not what all of you probably do, I managed to get there in one piece (just) I say just because I bounced twice on landing, and came to a stop just past the last turn off point from the runway! lol

What I hope one of you decent chaps out there can tell me is, how do I completely turn off the Engine of my Aircraft? if it is possible of course.  ???

I got to my destination by checking the map view and just from guessing I saw the initials Snd with a Circle within several circles, coloured pink, I clicked on this circle and up came Southend Airport. and hooray I was there!, I'm so glad that this Sim is very user friendly as I've tried Combat Flight Sims, many kinds and none to my knowledge have been so easy to get from one destination to another!.....I know they are 2 different genres of games/Sims, but I am glad that I can sit back and enjoy a Sim instead of tearing my hair out, because I don't know where I'm heading! lol

My other question is about something I saw last night, I took off from Heathrow at dusk, and I started from a small gate in a Cessna (I chose the gate to start from, just so as to see what it all looked like) I also fly the Cessna mostly for now as I'm still learning), I digress as I started to Taxi to the runway, I noticed that ATC was very very quiet, even though I have all the PAI Airlines installed, any ideas why it was so quiet? I mean no traffic taxiing or anything! ???

Also when I had taken off I noticed several blinking lights (moving) but they were all really close to each other, and again no comments from ATC, I carried on moving closer to these Aircraft and the closer I got it still looked the same, all bunched together!

I find that most strange! ???

Anyone else notice this, anyone else that is who also has PAI installed, sometimes there's no end of aircraft moving around and ATC talking and other times hardly anything, and I've had this at Heathrow!!! is it that the PAI is random in its behaviour?

Cheers

Hi Eyelevel, right to switch off your engine there are two methods.
1) Do CTRL E, or sometimes CTRL F1(this shuts off the fuel), as some models don't seem to have a working ignition switch.
2)Click on the button to show the throttle quadrant, you'll find all the switches and levers there.
With the AI traffic, sometimes it does that! Its a bit stupid, along with FSs ATC!!!

Hi Ozzy,

Right I'll do that, I know that when I tried the Cessna with Cntrl-E the engine did'nt turn off, so I'll do the other method you suggested.

This AI thing, you know I have the PAI installed, well I also have a program called AI Shuffler, do you think that would help things?

Also I think I might have made a major error with my Sim as I don't know how to remove the original aircraft from the Sim, as was suggested by ProjectAI, they put some removal programs in with the rest of their packages, but they came as PAI files and they tell you to install them in the same way as you would do with their Airlines, trouble is now in my Start Programs list all I have is the remove icons for uninstalling the actual remove programs of ProjectAI, and I have no clue as to how to uninstall the original aircraft from FS2002!

Crash it and when you bounce from the crash land perfectly. and if you have just the right momentum you might even be able to reach parking! :P
