I am wondering what is the anti-ice button in Boeing 747?? Please tell me what it does for the plane.

At hight altitudes it tends to get mighty cold! When it gets really cold the instruments start "failing" giving you wrong read-outs. De-Icing melts the ice on the wings or parts of the airplane.

I hope it's something which is included in FS 2004.
I regularly use the "Carb Heat" button on my small planes fitted with normally aspirated, (carburettor), engines, but, like you say, engine failure due to icing isn't automatically built into the program.... ....!
Icing is a big cause of plane crashes, especially on small prop planes, and judicious use of carburettor heat is part of flight training.... ...!

I think I had it in my cessna once when I was new to FS, I was afraid of going over 5thousand feet until the I found the mountains near the border of Italy. Oh boy, theres a first time for everything. Engine shut out and I quit the FS. I think it was temperature. Or maybe the random system failure?

It may not have happened. Other than that possible one, Nope, no cases of de-icing.

I'm not sure how accurate this would apply to F$, but in real world aviation, sometimes ice will accumulate on the surfaces of the airplane, disrupting the flow of air, and making the aircraft very difficult to handle.  

Never having experienced ice in F$, or even thinking that it might be there, I'm not 100% sure if they've got this or not.

Unfortunately, in FS 2002 system failures can only be set-up in Menu > Aircraft > System failures.
They are always "timed" to fail, so it doesn't represent real flying conditions where temperature and dew point become so close together, while flying, so as to produce icing conditions, and therefore probable failures!
It is possible to set these conditions up in the flight sim and add-ons, but I don't think the program, (FS 2002),  is designed to recognise them and react accordingly..
I REALLY hope it will be included in FS 2004...... ...!

That would definitely be nice, Foz.  (If I decide to buy CoF...still not sure.  It doesn't seem like a true "new version", more of an upgrade!)

I'm amazed at how, after you've got F$ for a while, you realize how very UN-realistic it is at times.  Little stuff that you'd think M$ would have addressed...like icing.   lol
