Jerking in External view

Hi All,

Firstly my Specs:

AMD Athlon 2200XP
512MB DDR
GeForce 3 Ti 200 128DDR
Soundblaster PCI 128
80 Gig Maxtor Hard Drive
Win XP
Socket A Board

I think that's everything.

Ok problems next: First thing is that when I'm flying from an external viewpoint and then pan around using the Hat Switch, the sim jerks a fair bit, its not a smooth movement, secondly I've noticed that when in the Cockpit view the sound is crackly and not as it should be.

I realise that I need to experiment with the settings, however when there are so many and being the sort of person that does'nt understand what each means/does, I find it hard.

I want to be able to have a smooth flying experience but without losing too much beauty (then again don't we all) lol

As for my soundcard and some-one on here if not all of you will say "Update your drivers" I would do but Creative don't have up to date drivers for my card anymore it seems, if anyone knows where they are then please let me know.

Also I'm using the 41.09's for my graphics card, these are the only drivers that work with all my games, I've tried the 43.45's, I think they were and they were hopeless.

All I can say is Help Please!!!

Cheers

it can't be lag, your rig is too good for that ::)

let me ask you this, what joystick are you using?

some time ago i ran into a fairly similar problem while trying to use the Sidewinder Force feedback with a soundcard i'm not sure if it was compatible

i think this might be a longshot but since you said your sound is choppy, i think it might be the same thing i had,
i was getting choppy sound too

if you're using the Sidewinder, then try disabling force feedback, see what happens

Hello Moach,

Well you and all the others after reading this post will hate me, and that's a fact! God I can't believe how stupid I am LOL

I have one Joystick which I use for FS2002 and its a Saitek Cyborg 2000 and its fine with the game but I see what you mean about the sound and so it might be worth uninstalling it and trying the keyboard instead......although I prefer the stick (who would'nt) lol

But aswell as having the Joystick I have a Saitek P1500 Rumble Pad, and that has been plugged in all the time I've been playing FS2002!!! What a fool!

Yes it is possible. I have a Gravis Eliminator aftershock. Everyt ime I have a friend over and they want to do "stunts" I can be like a copilot. I use the "mini" joystick and control thei aircraft too. Nothing weird happens.........yes, you can use it, just redefine the buttons. Not recommended though.

That might also be a great tool for either teaching someone to fly or at least to teach them the finer points of F$....

Or teach them how to write their initials with smoke on an F-16!

Or to just scare the crap outta them by nonchalantly applying a bit of forward pressure when they're not looking....

I'll probably try the pad then, thing is with mine is that you can lock the little stick, either up/down or left/right, it also has a wheel, which would be the throttle, and then buttons well it has 10, not brilliant compared to some other pads, but seeing as that was the only one I could get at the time it will have to suffice, I lkie it though, its a great pad, just annoyed to find out that once I'd got XP the rumble does'nt work! thanks to whoever for that one!  >:( LOL

Try disabling your sound within FS2002 while flying and see if there's a difference

I will do, but hope that it doesn't mean I'll have to make do without sound though! lol

I do have an old soundcard which I am frustrated with as I cannot get new drivers for it, I guess that's Creative's fault!

I've looked and looked but no joy, I'll post back with the results though

The reason I suggested turning the sound off, is because every great once in a while, my FS2002 will become jerky without warning, but with sound disabled, it was smooth. Re-installing the audio drivers took care of it ;)

I know what you mean, sorry I did'nt mean to sound ungrateful for your suggestion  :)

I'll give it a go, thing is I do have trouble getting to grips with installing drivers, still have'nt worked that one out yet doh!!! LOL

Ya know, I've read this thread countless times now, and it wasn't until just a second ago that I realized how much the subject sounds like a guy that was in the news today.  Only he was doing it at a college, not an airport.

You'll have to excuse my ignorance here, but I have'nt a clue as to what your talking about LOL, but that's probably due to me being in the UK!
