I just found 3 versions of Arrestor cables while cleaning out my comp ;D. When I got them I couldn't get them to work but now I know what I'm doing so has anyone got any tips on how to approach a carrier that aint moving?
Also I'm looking for an easy aircraft to practise on, any sudjestions guys?
So far I've destroyed 2 Etandards, 1 Hornet and 1 Tomcat, and have set fire to 1 Etendard. I did however get 1 Hornet and 1 Etendard down intact once each ;D.

Hi Craig, okay first big tip, approach from the stern!
Next, try landing something like a Cessna a few times until you feel comfortable with the approach and snagging the wires (any tricycle geared aircraft will work with the catapult as well!)
My favourite aircraft for deck landings are Seafires, there are two in particular I like the MkIII (available at no-nodes-available), and an FS2k model 47.
Oh and a couple of the naval air stations have cables on the runway for you to practice on.

Mark ;)

Like Ozzy says, "approach from the stern". All ArrCab carriers default into the wind for traps.

When lining up on the deck, from way out, start your approach from about 1500 ft. The deck altitude is only about 100 ft. Your glideslope shoud be shallow and consistant, all the way down. DO NOT DIVE FOR THE DECK AT THE LAST MINUTE!! Much better to wave off and go around, than to push a bad approach.

Another big help is to use the default carrier off of San Diego, Ca. There's an active Meatball on deck that helps give you a good idea of how your approach is.

There's a E-2C Hawkeye that's stable and fairly easy to land, (if there is such a thing), in the SimV Military section. http://www.simviation.com/fs2000military19.htm
And also, a T-45 Goshawk, that's a good trainer. But, I'd recommend a different panel. http://www.simviation.com/fs2002military28.htm

Good luck!
;D

Call me crazy, but I used to like trying to put the sailplane down on the deck.  Why, I don't know.  Seemed like a bigger challenge.   ;D
