As Real As It Gets - Not

::) So I land at 10R at Pittsburg and as I land theres another plane waiting to take off on the taxiway. As I hit the reverse thrust and brakes and come to a stop, this lear jet comes up behind straight thru me and takes off like I'm not there. :-/
Some very bad programming or is getting it right at Microsoft just to much to ask.
And while I'm griping wheres my gangways so passengers can disembark? Or is this an element that has yet again been left out out of even FS2004? ::)
Happy flying people ;D

Well, i can't say MS put everything, but i can't say they didn't make a great program. As far as i know, that happens if you don't contact tower and the tower just cleared a plane for takeoff and you come landing without contact. If you were doing contact ATC would tell you: So and So you were not cleared to land, clear the runway................repeats like 2 more times and then ATC services terminated..........so, yeah this happens to me when im just testing planes or practicing landing in new planes, other than that, im fully aware of a plane waiting to takeoff on the runway im landing at.............if i am landing, but another is cleared, im ordered to go around. Hope that clears things up a bit. Good Day

It also sounds like you didn't have collisions enabled. If you don't then FS2002 won't detect aircraft to aircraft contact and the planes will just pass through you like you described. If you do have it enabled then something is wrong somewhere because I've purposely taxied into another plane to see if you can have collisions on the taxiway and got a crash and reset.

You also have to consider that all FS2002 AI aircraft are a bunch of rude S. O. B.s and don't know the meaning of "wait your turn". Just do like I do and flip em off whenever you give them some of their own back by passing em on the taxiway.  :o

I've never experianced that. I wish there were more AI aircraft though because in FS2002, major airports that usually have all gates full in the real world appear almost empty in the sim.

yes i agree with orenda, even with 100% traffic theres just a few planes. Remember though, it is impossible to completely replicate allthe 'real stuff' into a game. In this sim, you cant see grass move, birds soaring, people walking around the airport terminals, etc. But think about it, if we had all that we'd be getting poor frame rates.. Anyways, for a game this is really as real as it gets - that is, until a newer version comes up

Yeah, and another thing, when I'm flying the 777....I hit the flight attendant call button .........nothing happens. And they call this stuff realistic!!!!  You guys need to take up step back about ten years. Can anyone here say "286 processor",I-new-you-could.  Just think about the progress they've made. Give them another ten, and that Lear will not only cause damage to your airplane, maybe your VR suit will send 117volts of un-abated A/C power to simulate your skin burning, as your airplane goes up in flaming ball of fire!

                         Don't worry, I'm seeking counseling! ;D

If It was "As real as it gets", you would have to
take 10 hours ground school before you could
buy it, and then have your Mom sit next to you
while you flew the first 50 hours and then, you
send Mr. Gate$, $500.00 an hour to fly, and
every 50 hours send the program back for a
check up, and now we can talk, Taxes and
insurance, and $250.00 a month for a place
to tie it down, Oh you want "Covered parking"
that's $500.00 per month, and next month
you will need new radios because your little
airport is building a TOWER!!! And the beat goes
on, and the beat goes on!!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

At last, someone who speaks my language!

I was pretty peeved about the lack of Jetway also.
Nobody marshaled me to the gate. No fuel hydrant truck, no catering truck, nobody came to unload the bags. I felt like a second class pilot! This is no way to run a simulation! I think we should get together and see the simulated union rep.!

yes that would be nice, as a matter of fact some addon sceneries do have that feature. But too many features will chew up the frames unfortunately. Well illl have my say with what is unrealistic in the sim although i do think its good enough - for now..

Clouds: Fly over them and youll see they're flat..

Trees: 2d

Water: Moves, but not realistc.

AI: Not much of em in airports

Autogen scenery: Textures not so good.

And a couple other stuff...

Most of these things will be fixed in FS2004 though. Things i will like to see in future versions:

Grass: Maybe effect textures that move around

Better Trees: 3d, like in CFS3

Birds: Birds flying over scenery

AI Automobiles: Cars that travel around the scenery

Ground crew animations: Ground crew movement at airport terminals

Still, We'll have to wait and see what FS2004 has to offer..

You do know this will probably slow the game down dramatically, with too much moving things at once.
Plus, just download some water textures, I found a really good one that makes it much more enjoyable.

Oh well, I still think they could use some more gate stuff, such as the little cars that back you out.

And back off about it not being as real as it gets... Dare ya to try and find one that is better than this one... And NOT real life. Doesn't count.

You forgot to mention when cops storm into your house and arrest you for going over 250 knts while under 10,000 feet ;D

There is a scenery download called SANGER

Your flights start in the hanger and you have to
taxi between some trees to get to the runway!!
and there are GIRLS and CARS and POLICE!!
and a BEER JOINT!!!!
