force feedback in fs2002 pro

Just acqiured at thrift store a 6 button CH force FX joystick.
Got drivers from web, installed, ran dos test for feedback, all
ok. Everthing works great in fs except feedback. Now for the dumb question (my appologies). Is force feedback available in 2k2? If so would all add on acft work or do the designers have to do something extra? I have selected force fx and performed calibration in fs2k2. Don't know where to go next.

yeap bro fs2002 supports forcefeedback. Check for two things:
1) Make sure you are flying a forcefeedback plane, 'cause not all the designers define the forcefeedback in their plane.
2) Go to "settings" and in the "controls" area click once on "Joystick forces" and make sure "enable forcefeedback" is checked.
After you have tried the two above, if the forces still won't work, I would call the support line.

FS2002 supports Force Feedback but I've been sort of disappointed in it with the stick I have (Logitech 3D Strikeforce). It seems the stick only wants to resist every and all movement making everything jerky. I had to turn a lot off and other things down to get even a remote resemblance of realistic feel.

That's my stick and yours may be quite different. All the default planes in FS2002 are set up for FF but some add on planes aren't. It's pretty easy though to copy the Force Feedback section from one plane and add it to the .cfg file of another. Just find a plane that seems to fly well with FF and open the .cfg file for the airplane you want to copy from with notepad and copy the section that says:

[forcefeedback]


and everything below that. It's usually at the end of the .cfg file and paste it into the .cfg of the plane you want FF in.
