At what point do things go wrong?

Are you unzipping with "preserve file structure"?

Just a thought. Newbies often try to install files to the CD instead of the FS2002 directory on the HD. This is impossible but a quite common & perfectly understandable mistake. Messing around with Windows Explorer can be a tad scary until you're used to it. I can still remember how nervous I felt when I first started. Please read that installation tute carefully.

I agree...when I first tried installing aircraft, I was very apprehensive.  It's like everything with computers.  You're just afraid you're going to break something at first.  (Of course, I'm also the guy who forgot how to get an ILS frequency. lol)

Definitely make sure the files are unzipped...and make sure you've got a folder in your aircraft directory that will hold all the files and folders.  (I've found a shortcut to the aircraft folder on your desktop is a life saver!)

Bruce, I find it helpful to unzip the files to my desktop, then I can go through the file, rename the plane manufacturer if needed, remove any un-needed documentation like jpg's or files the maker put in, sort out the gauges, and then manually place the plane into the aircraft folder.  I think it just makes for a neater hard-drive, gets you to know the game better.

Don't worry, pretty soon you'll be installing planes with the best of them. ;D
