Im afraid I am not too informed when it come to computer specs, but I originally had a 1ghz processor 128mb sdram 20gb hard drive. Then a friend added another mainboard k7 and a radeon ve agp2x/4x 64mb.
I hope this makes sense! Thanks for replying.

John,

Sounds like you might be a little short on RAM, but that's it.  You need a minimum of 256 RAM available for fs2002 to run smoothly.

Approach and landing is the one time during simulation when your system's ability to process scenery data will be tested the most.  You're going from basic scenery textures to more detailed textures of an airport (assuming your Scenery Complexity and ATC settings are on "high"), and better yet, additional AI traffic will put an even greater demand on your resources.

Good luck,

Erik :)

Well, I have a 1.2 Ghz Celeron, 256MB of RAM, and have FS on Maximum quality. I also have the one second freeze and it drives me crazy! But, I found out a while back that you need 512 MB of RAM to make FS2002 run smoothly. When a friend, with the same computer, upgarded he had no more delay ;D

its just a hinch but try taking the effect for the landing gear touching the ground causing smoke...maybe its jsut too much for the compuyter loading this. it will be in the aircraft cfg file under effects looks something like

fx.touchdown 6,78,75,7,5,7,4

make sure u back up first worth a try this may be cuasing it

on my machine there is a slight lag whilst i turn the lights on on any aircraft.
