I am almost sure that the weather data is only read and not saved... meaning, the FS probabely uses the information and forgets it right away, 'cause you can't use it afterwards. and no, you don't have to delete it.

That's right.
The weather is downloaded into a temp folder and used in the FS environment only. When you close the sim, it's flushed out, until the next time you load real weather.
No need to worry about cleaning anything out. Honestly, I think it's a MS Mystery where that data goes.

it is downloaded and is put into the folder Flights--->myflights--->to a file called Previous flight.WX, Program generated temporary flight.WX, or UI Generated Temporary Flight.WX (not sure which one for sure
If you save the flight the name of the file changes to the new name of the flight you created. For every flight that is saved there is a WX file with it. If you want to change the weather for a saved flight start the flight and save the light under the same name.

When you download weather, it does not save it anywhere on your harddrive untill you save your flight, and then it's 'yourflightname.wx' or something like that

Andrew is correct. I misread the question.
If you are worried about HD space, The file size can be as small as 100 bytes where there is no weather to almost 3 MB with alot of weather. The 2002 Christmas Nor'easter snow storm is a good example
