New PA-28 Piper Arrow III...probs?

Hello all... ;D...!

I have downloaded the new Piper arrow....

http://www.simviation.com/fs2002props48.htm

Installed everything OK, as usual....
but....
...the frame rates using the plane have now dropped from the usual 35fps to around 1fps, (or less)..... :o...!
The plane stutters along for a while before the program fails completely with the usual Microsoft warning that there is a problem with the program and to post them the details via the problem window...

Has anyone else had this problem with the new Arrow...?

Many thanks... 8)...!

Cheers all... ;D...!

Sorry i can't help you. But i downloaded and installed the same aircraft and my frame rates never altered. I would say there may be some other underlying cause. Is there any other thing you may have done or installed about the same time?
BEST OF LUCK!!!!

Hello FS....!
Thanks for the reply... :)...!

..arn't you the lucky one... ;)...!
It seems that every 50th. download works fine, I just keep picking the ones before and after... :'(...
(Only joking...)...!

Deleted all the existing Piper III files including the gauges.
Downloaded it again, re-installed it MINUS the special gauges designated r_c_xxxx
Works fine, (remembering that some of the gauges are now missing).
The problem seems to be with these "SPECIAL" gauges included in the program, the default ones in the Panel file work fine...!
This is the only time I have had a problem with installing planes, gauges, etc....there is something strange with this particular model, probably to do with these "special?" gauges...?
The fault is serious enough to cause my computer to re-boot, so I have removed the Piper III files and am sticking to the downloaded "PIPER CHEROKEE ARROW III (PA 28R-201) by Warren Baier" instead....that works fine... ;D...!
It's a shame about the Piper III, as it is a lovely model... :'(...!

Cheers...

Hi Adrian....!
It's nice to know I'm not the only one having problems with this particular plane... ::)....!
Anyone out there got any suggestions?
I'm sure its a problem with the special gauges designated r_c_.... in the gauges folder for the aircraft.
When these are placed in the Main Gauges Folder then the problems start when the aircraft is selected.

Cheers all...

Sorted at last...!
I read the read-me file, (as you do, as soon as you have un-zipped the file), but this time I read it right to the very, very end, (which you rarely do).... ;)...!
And lo and behold, half way down the text file the following appears ... :o...!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Quote:
Up to and including Warrior4.zip, when specific Piper gauges were needed I used existing FS2002 files,
replacing bitmaps in them.
In this Arrow I made these myself, turning photographs of the real instruments into bitmaps,
and using EasyGauge to make functioning gauges out of them.
To use gauges made with EasyGauge, a file GaugeSound.dll must be either in the windows\system32 directory or in the
FS2002 main directory; it is in this zipfile.
Un-quote:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
....So having dropped the GaugeSound.dll file into the Main FS2002 Folder, fired up the prog and selected the Piper III Arrow, it works a treat...!
I had a funny feeling the problem was something to do with the 24, r_c_XX custom gauges!
This is typical of what happens whenever a diddly-doobry.dll file is missing, or not in it's correct place...
So todays lesson is, "READ EVERY WORD IN THE AUTHORS READ-ME FILE)...LOL...!
...don't you just love magical, mystical, .dll files...?
LOL...LOL...LOL...!

Cheers...
