problems exporting gmax files using makemdl

Hi

I have been trying to export a simple ball with a texture on it just to see what it does in FS2002

I downloaded makemdl and added it into the plugin folder in Gmax. I go to export, mdl and it pops up the make mdl window- but no matter what I have tried I keep getting an error.

Is there a tutorial or a cite that explains why this happens or how to properly export a model to be imported as addon scenery in FS2002??
