Hi all,

Is there a limit to add-ons in the library of FS2002 ???

Since a few days I can't add  scenery or mesh no more.

It seems like the library is full and can't take more scene

In the main FS2002 scenery cfg, we can't go further than [Area 724] and any new entry is done erasing the last one.

It's really annoying and I 've never had such a problem since I installed add-ons so far.

All my add-ons (sceneries, mesh, landclass ...) are kept
in a folder away from FS2002

If someone could help me I'd really appreciate  :'(

Thanks for any help.

Will

Hi Will. There is a definite limit to the number of areas that can be added to Scenery.cfg. I would think this can be overcome by combining the scenery. For example, 2 or more different areas by the same designer could be configured as one by simply pasting the files into one master area. You would need to be careful & make sure the scenery works properly first with no conflicts or other bugs. Then delete the area from the Scenery Library before combining it. Hope this clumsy explanation didn't confuse you. My brain is not fully awake yet.  ::)

PS. I'm surprised at the amount of 3rd party scenery some people have installed to FS2002. I've been at this a long time & never exceeded this limit myself. ;)

The maximum number of entries in the scenery.cfg file is 332. After that they just won't show.

As Hagar says, there are ways around this.

Not all scenery necessarily needs its own entry. If there are no flatten or exclude commands associates with a given entry, then it's safe to extract the scenery files and put them in the add-on scenery/scenery folder (which already has it's own entry) and put the textures in the add-on scenery/texture folder.

The only disadvantage with doing this is that if you ever need to uninstall the scenery, you have to remove the files manually (and of course know which they are).
