How can I use external gauges w/fs2002

I have seen some products such as the ones at http://www.simkits.com that allow you to have instruments and gauges that sit on your desk, instead of using monitor real estate.  I can't afford their $300+ price tag to put an attitude indicator on my desk, so I want to build my own hardware instead.

These are my questions:  How can I extract information about the state of gauges and instruments from fs2002?  The only thing I've found is fsuipc, but it doesn't seem to be very comprehensive.  Is there a download somewhere that allow me to get information about the instruments and gauges in real time?  Is there a download somewhere that will allow me to send information about instrument settings to fs2002?  There is a download called Radiosv1.0 that allows you to connect a palm pilot to fs2002 and use it as an "extended gauge" that appears to use 2-way communication with fs2002, and allows you to set ADF freq.'s from the palm pilot.  Is there a download out there that will allow me to do this kind of 2-way communication with a usb device?  Is there a more appropriate forum for these questions?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Sorry Max, I haven't tried my hand at modifying planes in fs2002 yet.
