HELP:  missing L gear on AI flights

Hi.

I have a couple of aircraft that I use for some AI flights.  Whan I fly them myself....they have landing gear down when on the ground.  When they are used for AI flights....... they "float" about 6-8 feet off the asphalt!!!!!

Is there a simple line in the aircraft.cfg file or something that I can fis to prevent this?  It is disconcerting.

Thanks.

best,

..................john

This bug is mentioned in the TTools instructions. It affects older designs, most likely created with the previous version of FS Design Studio (FSDS).

Hey...thanks.  Not what I wanted to hear :-[ . I was hpoing it was a one line text fix.

The aircraft in question are planes in American Eagle livery.  I live near an airport that has that line for a LOT of floghts.... Manchester International (NH).  I am trying to up the realism.

Can't find too many aircraft in Eagle Flight livery.  Also Manchester can't handle the real Heavy's..... so I need mid size and props.

Oh well..... have to watch planes "float" until I can learn how to do repaints  :)

Thanks for the info.

best,

Coincidentally I just added American Eagle today. You can find the following re-paints at PAI:

ATR42, ATR72, CRJ200, ERJ145, S34B.

The 2 that are needed that are absent are the ERJ135 & ERJ 140. The cruise performance is the same as the ERJ145 so I just used that for all 3 in the flight plan.

All PAI models display landing gear. :)

Thanks....FSTipster!

If you look on the PAI forums you will see my experience with downloading PAI "airlines".  I tried downloading two airlines and tried installing them (custom ...aircraft only), and then I had all problems with AIMover crashing and corrupting my traffic.bgl file and such.

I must have been doing something wrong..... but I can't figure out what.  No one has of yet replied to the message I left about the symptoms.

SO......... not sure if the paints you just did will help me.  I'll go there and check it out.  But my first experience was not good........ many hours of screwing around trying to fix stuff  :P .

Thanks for the info though.  Maybe I can get it to work the second time  ;) .

best,

John. Is it not possible to install the PAI aircraft separately & create your own traffic tracks for them?

Yes, you can install individual aircrafts without installing the PAI airline packages

Absolutely.

There is no American Eagle package currently available from PAI.

What I did was use MRAI's flightplans in conjunction with PAI's re-paints.

There are over 11,000 plans in the MRAI d.load for that airline so be aware that replacing the aircraft #'s for those absent ERJ models is a lengthy job!

John - I've had to mess about with incorrect flightplans so far but I've never had any trouble at all with PAI repaints and I have the bulk of them installed now (Over 600 AI aircraft flying, most of which are PAI re-paints). Not sure why you're experiencing the crashes but I do everything with ttools and notepad. I've yet to use AITM (although I've got it downloaded.)

John,

Another key thing to know about PAI repaints is that your aircraft folder must have the base model (paint kit) of the aircraft you are applying the texture to.  If you download textures from the "File Library", they will work fine with with the corresponding paint kit in "Certified Resources." As John mentioned, all of the the American Eagle textures are available.  Only problem here is that PAI has been upgrading their paint kits such that a few are not currently accessible.

If you look on the PAI forums you will see my experience with downloading PAI "airlines".  I tried downloading two airlines and tried installing them (custom ...aircraft only), and then I had all problems with AIMover crashing and corrupting my traffic.bgl file and such.

When you attempted to install the airline packages, it's possible that the included aircraft were of a different version than what you already had in your aircraft folder or what came out of another airline package.  I've learned that not all of the airline packages contain the most recent version of their respective models.

As a result, when installing PAI airline packages, I've relegated to manual installation.  I feel a need for more control of what's going on during the installation process.  This way I can avoid having different versions of aircraft installed on top of one another in the same folder.

To clarify what what I mean by "version" of aircraft, in the aircraft.cfg file, the simulator version is indicated by the entry beginning with "sim=" and must match (exactly) the name of the .air file within that same folder.

Sometimes when you download a texture, the docs will include an aircraft.cfg entry that will reveal the version that the textures are meant to go with.  Otherwise it can be trial and error.

Good luck.  We'll get this problem licked!

Erik :)
